to embellish and incorporate into her work and creates decorative objects by combining various fabrics, threads, clays and embroidery stitches. She’s inspired by the strength and beauty of nature and especially the sea. Ann studied creative embroidery and ceramics at NCAD through evening classes for several years. In 2009,she was awarded the NCAD Students Union prize for Ceramics for a sculptural piece she made called "Feothanach." In embroidery, she mostly work with silk, cotton and recently some West Kerry fleece as the background for hand and machine embroidery. The result is usually heavily textured and abstract.
